You have spent many hours piecing your quilt top. Why not give it the
quilting it deserves?
I will be happy to discuss your needs and choices on quilting your top.
I have many designs to choose from, or, if you prefer, I can quilt your
top using freehand techniques and truly customize your quilt.
Tosty's offers four types of hand-guided machine quilting.
- Edge to edge quilting-$2.50 sq. ft. A single pattern repeated
across the width and length of the quilt, usually a very open and simple
style pantograph, or a large meander or stippling.
- Custom quilting-$2.90 sq. ft. Includes quilting such as
a combination of two designs or patterns. (Such as one design to the
main body of the quilt with a different design on the borders to compliment.)
Medium meander with design, stippling, or a very densely quilted pantograph
design.
- Custom Plus-$3.25 sq. ft. Combination of three or more
designs along with fill in stippling or meandering and 1/4" outline.
- Heirloom quilting-$3.75 and up per sq ft. This allows you to
customize the design or patterns on your quilt. This includes
small stippling, small cross hatch, stitch in the ditch and alternate
block quilting designs (i.e. feathered wreaths, etc.).
Minimum charge $40.00
(Please not that quilting is hand guided. I do not have any stitch
regulators on my machine. Some variation in stitching will occur.)
Preparation of quilt and backing for quilting:
- Do not baste top and back
- Backing must be at least 4-6" longer and wider than top and should
be washed and pressed. Backing should be square with straight edges.
- If binding is requested, please include binding.
- If you are shipping your quilt, please insure for proper value.
- Fragile quilts will be refused unless you agree to accept risk of
damage. Please remember that the quilt is stretched on a machine, seams
on borders should be reinforced by backstitching on ends.
- Sorry, Tosty's does not accept sheets for backing or Mountain Mist
Batting.
- Double check quilt for puckers and missed seams (seams that are not
quite sewn). Puckers do not "quilt out" and if seams are missed
and not caught before quilting then it is harder to correct (not to
mention that the hopping foot can get caught and cause more damage).
I will mark a missed seam to let you know (if area has been quilted),
but if it has to be taken off and repaired then a reload charge will
be added.
